The Vehicle Autonomy and Intelligence Lab (VAIL) develops intelligent and trustworthy autonomy for robotic systems operating in complex, dynamic, and uncertain environments. Our research spans robot learning, robust decision-making, and safe autonomy, with an emphasis on bridging fundamental algorithms and real-world deployment.
We work with diverse robotic platforms. Our goal is to advance robots from systems that simply execute predefined tasks to autonomous agents that can perceive, learn, reason, coordinate, and act safely in the real world.
VAIL is affiliated with the Department of Computer Science and the Department of Intelligent Systems Engineering in the Luddy School of Informatics, Computing, and Engineering at Indiana University - Bloomington.
